We'd been saving frequent flyer miles for years so we could go to Japan for the 2020 Olympics. Well, the events of the coronavirus changed our plans, so when we were sitting down to a Sunday dinner about a month before our 30th wedding anniversary, and Chloe mentioned that they (and Amy) would cover watching Luke if we wanted to go to Florida to celebrate, we decided to take them up on the offer!
Cocoa Beach
We got direct flights on Delta that left late on a Thursday night and arrived in Orlando early on a Friday morning. When we got there, we took an Uber from the airport to our hotel at the Dolphin Resort.
They let us check in early and so we got a nap in before our big day at Epcot.
A water taxi took us from our hotel to Epcot.
Our favorite part of Epcot was Japan, of course ;) with China being a close second.
Many of the rides were in boats, like they have at Pirates of the Caribbean or Small World at Disneyland.
Canada
We went on 8 rides
Can you see the little lizard on Kermit's hand?
The hotel was spectacular!
The next day we got up early and checked out of our hotel.
We rented a car and headed to the Orlando Temple. Florida is still having around 3000 Coronavirus cases a day, so the Temple was in phase 2. We took pictures from just outside the gate.
Tim wanted to see some real alligators in Florida, so next we headed to a place called Gatorland. it was packed with long lines and so we decided to skip seeing the gators and to head to the beach...
Sure enough, the Atlantic ocean is warmer than the Pacific.
We had fun walking in the ocean and watching the big waves.
And then we headed to the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral
The kind of ice cream sandwiches that they eat on the space ship - freeze dried!
We headed to the airport and turned in our car and watched Bedtime Stories at an airport lobby near the gate while we were waiting. When we got on the plane, we watched The Last Song during our flight - two great movies. We got home close to midnight, where Amy welcomed us with some treats from Russia! It was a PERFECT trip-so grateful we got to go!
