Brian found this 15 passenger van in Pleasant Grove to rent...
We left on a Wednesday with Brian, Chloe and Wesley and Eric and Mindy's family
We went the New Mexico way, so of course we had to stop at Wilson Arch!!!
Tim and Brian built a plexiglass and insulation barrier between the back of the van and the front for Luke who has sensitive ears. It worked well going there, but then Luke took it down so we didn't have it for the trip back. Luckily, Luke still did well on the trip back too-HOORAY!!!
The reunion was really fantastic this year. We arrived on Thursday afternoon and settled in our cabins...
We were in charge of the first dinner and served Chicken Tikka Masala over white or brown rice, Naan Bread, Cantaloupe and red grapes, and sliced cucumbers. Then a few of the moms had a book group, discussing "Get Out of Your Head," by Jennie Allen while the kids participated in a "Survivor" activity put together by Nick and Kayla. The cabins were lovely with comfy beds, AIR CONDITIONING and showers!
On Friday woke up and went to Tai Chi/Gigong with Steven. Breakfast was pastries, muffins, fruit and cinnamon rolls! We went on a hike to rainbow rock and then we went swimming at SlipperyFalls which was beautiful. We had Frito Chili Pie, fruit and veggies for lunch. In the afternoon, we went to the air conditioned dining hall and painted with water colors and visited. Dinner was hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and watermelon. Then we had a fireside and amy spoke about her mission to St. Petersburg, Russia and Michael spoke about his mission to Argentina (he went to the same mission that his dad served in).
All ten siblings made it to our reunion this year-Yay!
On Saturday, we had breakfast burritos and then attended a program for the adults, "Putting on the Whole Amour of God" where Jim spoke about financial planning, the Bittles spoke about addiction recovery and a couple - Camille just graduated in Marriage and Family Therapy and her husband is an institute director and they spoke about marriage. The whole program was outstanding! The kids had activities going on at the same time. We had BBQ sandwiches for lunch.
Then we cleaned up the campsite and left for Billy and Susan's new house in seminole. It is beautiful! We had a great time catching up with their family. There was a basketball activity at the church that night.
On Sunday, we attended church at Jim and Angie's house. Jim gave a great lesson. Then we headed out to the cemetery to see mom and dad's graves. It is a very special place-so neat to be there together!
Billy and Susan's house sits on six acres. They have chickens!
We headed back the Colorado way and made it home in good time. What an amazing trip!
