LaNae's birthday, etc.
We went to visit Uncle David this week for Family Home Evening. We played the game SET (you use colors, shapes, and patterns to make sets) with him.
It was fun!
Tuesday was LaNae's birthday and the family took her to Denney's for breakfast at 5:00 am. Still can't believe we got back in time for everyone to get to school and work on time! LaNae went in to work and everyone wished her a happy birthday and they gave her a present-so nice!
That evening we went to a Thai restaurant on Main Street that LaNae had heard good things about and it lived up to it's reputation-the food was outstanding! She ordered Pad Thai chicken, Tim got the Massaman Curry, Amy ordered a yellow curry, Luke ate edamame, and May Kelly ate rice.
This week, Rick and Kelsee came over on Tuesday and on Saturday, so we got to see these little cuties twice! Life is the best when they are around!
2. Take responsibility for your own physical well-being. Your soul consists of your body and spirit (see D&C 88:15). Feeding the spirit while neglecting the body, which is a temple, usually leads to spiritual dissonance and lowered self-esteem. If you are out of shape, if you are uncomfortable in your own body and can do something about it, then do it! Elder Russell M. Nelson has taught that we should “regard our body as a temple of our very own” and that we should “control our diet and exercise for physical fitness” (“We Are Children of God,” Ensign, Nov. 1998, 87; Liahona, Jan. 1999, 103).
We decided to make our own bread which is basically free since we already have the buckets of wheat, natural yeast, and water.
Luke went Bowling on Wednesday, he went to Special Needs Mutual on Thursday where they made Valentines, and he went to Swimming lessons on Saturday.
We stayed after the swim lesson so he could get more exercise
After all the holidays, and birthdays of October, November, December, and January, we decided it was time to get started on New Year's Resolutions. The first one we are working on this year is physical health. I love this talk from Elder Jorg Klebingat of the Seventy:
President Boyd K. Packer has taught “that our spirit and our body are combined in such a way that our body becomes an instrument of our mind and the foundation of our character” (“The Instrument of Your Mind and the Foundation of Your Character” [Church Educational System fireside, Feb. 2, 2003], 2; speeches.byu.edu). Therefore, please use good judgment in what and especially how much you eat, and regularly give your body the exercise it needs and deserves. If you are physically able, decide today to be the master of your own house and begin a regular, long-term exercise program, suited to your abilities, combined with a healthier diet. Spiritual confidence increases when your spirit, with the help of the Savior, is truly in charge of your natural man or woman.
We decided to focus on the principles found in the Word of Wisdom-Eat vegetables, fruits, grains, and eat meat sparingly with prudence and Thanksgiving. LaNae wanted to try making sauerkraut. It is supposed to have pro-biotics, so she gave it a try. We will see if it turns out in about 3 weeks.
We decided to make our own bread which is basically free since we already have the buckets of wheat, natural yeast, and water.
Cauliflower was $1.29 each and Luke LOVES cauliflower, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, so we bought six.
Avocados were 6 for $1.00 and when you mix them with Aunt Bonnie's fresh organic Arizona lemons, you get delicious guacamole-yum!
This week artichokes were on sale for 1.49 each and cauliflower was 1.29 each so we price matched and got several. I guess now we have to focus on MODERATION-ha!
Isn't that beautiful! I love the look of fresh vegetables.
We decorated a bit for Valentines day, and put new shelf paper in the kitchen cabinets.
Amy said, "It looks so clean!"
Also, Mindy and Eric came over on Friday and Amy watched their kids while we went to the Provo City Center Temple. It is gorgeous-the wall murals and stained glass are truly breathtaking!
It's Super Bowl Sunday and our family has never watched the super bowl. The Choate and the Stout grandparents felt it was a waste of time, so we never watched it growing up
(interesting tid-bit for family history since it is such a big deal right now to everyone else, it seems).
