The garden is in!
This year we did a few things differently. Instead of buying packets of seeds, we bought quite a few plants, allowing us to put in more of a variety of fruits and veggies. We planted watermelon, cantaloupe, raspberries, zucchini, yellow squash, cherry tomatoes and big red tomatoes, pumpkin, cucumber, onion, beets, potatoes, carrots, romaine lettuce, and cauliflower (Luke's favorite-cooked with balsamic vinegar).
And we planted marigolds around the whole thing to help keep the bugs away!
It is growing nicely, but the weeds are a constant battle :)
Luke's swim lessons...
Luke started swim lessons several months ago and he is doing really well. She teaches him the butterfly stroke using four positions: turtle (hands together and straight overhead), airplane (arms up and out making a Y shape), monkey (arms tucked under), and soldier arms straight down). She also works with him on the back float and kicking. Luke loves the water. He taught himself how to swim when he was young so he likes going to swim lessons and the pool is always quiet because they reserve the pool for lessons.
Went with Rick to Utah State for Fall Orientation...
We drove up to Logan to attend Fall Orientation. He got his student card and was able to talk to a counselor. They had a nice lunch and several really great speakers. As a side note. My brother Eric told Rick about a Japanese translator job at UVU working for 10 days translating for Japanese students who are in the States taking a car mechanic class. Rick got the job!!! The interviewer said his Japanese is terrific and his pronunciation sounds native. We are very proud of him! Thanks to Eric for letting us know about this great opportunity! Rick is excited about it!
Painting our master bathroom and bedroom...
I painted our bedroom and bathroom and am LOVING it! It took a whole month to complete, but I think I am going to do our whole house in these colors:
Before and After
Before
After
I plan to change the towel racks and toilet paper roll holders from gold to silver when I find the perfect ones (have been looking EVERYWHERE and haven't found anything that is just right).
