Rick's Birthday
Where did the time go? Is it possible that I have a son who is 22 yeas old?
We arrived at the Arnoldsen cabin (Mt. Pleasant) at around 3:30 pm. It takes about an hour and a half to get there. The cabin is HUGE! It has three floors with 10 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, a large kitchen, living room with a fireplace, game room downstairs and a stage with a piano upstairs. It is the perfect place for a family reunion! The Arnoldsens rent it out when they are not using it. Contact Allen if you want more information about it at 801-224-6716!
Bathroom downstairs
We stayed in this bedroom which is downstairs. It also has a trundle bed tucked under the twin size bed.
The furniture in this room was all hand made and it is gorgeous! There is also a surprise little room connected to this big bedroom to store bedding.
The game room had a big flat screen TV, a Pool table, a ping pong table, fireplace, kids drawing table, and a playhouse area tucked underneath the staircase!
Upstairs there is a great place for holding talent shows. It has a stage and piano and lots of seating.
On Friday we went on some fun hikes in the morning and then in the afternoon we went to Manti to do baptisms for some family names that Shauna researched and found. One of the names was George Stout's brother. George Stout was the main character in the movie Monuments Men (in the movie, his name is Frank Stokes-don't know why they changed the name!). A true story about the men who helped to save many famous art pieces from Hitler's destruction during World War II. He is a fifth cousin twice removed.
Cousins Hannah, Emily, Eilee, and Amy
That night we attended the Manti Pageant with Rick, Shauna, Isaac, Hannah, Emily, Eilee, Todd, Amy, Tim, Luke and LaNae. Tim took this panorama shot. There were around 14,000 people there!
It was spectacular!
We had fun hiking around the cabin and saw deer, chipmunks, a variety of birds and butterflies. On Saturday, we cleaned up and headed for home, but not before stopping at the Shave-n-Cream for yummy shaved ice with ice cream-yum! It was another awesome reunion!
